Why discreet recruiting & job search?

How Jobrupt was born

Jobrupt is a new discreet tool for recruiting top talent or building a better career through your own network. You may start recruiting your connections or ask for an interview in few minutes. And this is a brief story to give you an idea on how I arrive at having built Jobrupt.

I'm not an HR neither a recruiter: for the past few years I have worked as a director of marketing for an international company. What I find truly fascinating is how many really outstanding people I have happened to meet and build relationships with. With the advent of social media I've converted most of my business acquaintances into connections in my Linkedin account; so did nearly everyone I know.

A couple of months ago, I was talking to a close friend of mine who wanted to find a new job for a better career path and eventually a better income. She's not just brainy trade marketing manager but has a really impressive successful track record. I was a kind of baffled why someone like her having some 300+ contacts at her Linkedin network hasn't easily land a job within a month or so. And here is unexpected starts: she didn't approach anyone out of her network regarding job search. Moreover when I suggested to do so she squirmed in hesitation. Leveraging your network is generally considered a sensible solution when it comes to job or employee search. Or is it?

Make-or-break: are you landing a job or just risking the current one?

There's something unsettling in the idea to appeal directly to a particular person in your network who used to know you as a successful happy (or stable) professional at your current position. if say I directly ask for a job someone I know but eventually don't land a job, would it result into awkward embarrassment for both of you? But frankly speaking there's a way more serious concern you bear in mind: openly searching for a job within your network may risk your current position. Somewhat similar concerns are inevitable if it comes to hiring someone you know.

All those thoughts are reasonably making us hesitate to switch to the fifth gear on the quest for a better job or a team member. In other words natural complexity of business relationships often results in strong reservations about taking the first step towards your desired job or new employee without being sure what type of response you'll get.

Jobrupt is a discreet way to recruit or to seek job

That's how I arrived at the idea of Jobrupt: Jobrupt is a discreet way to find your dream job or to hire a great talent using your own network. What makes it different from other job related web sites, is its focus on the privacy concerns of this delicate process. Your targeted connection will only know about your intention to get a job interview with her or to recruit her if and only if she is also interested in you.

One final word, Jobrupt is a free tool based on LinkedIn platform. Please give it a try and let me know how it works for you. I am on Twitter @jobrupt.
